September 2017: Last Night of the Proms

DSC 0850On the 23rd September we held a "Last Night of the Proms" concert in Forres Sandle Manor School in Fordingbridge. The concert featured a guest soprano singer, Elizabeth Ferrie, who sang several pieces accompanied by the band, singing during the first half "World in Union", "The Sun Whose Rays" and "Pokarekare Ana" following in the second half with "O Mio Babbino Caro" and LNotP favourites "Rule Britannia" and "Jerusalem".

The gallery photos show that the concert venue was adorned with plenty of Union Flags and other red, white and blue decoration.

The band would like to thank Elizabeth for a superb performance which was very much appreciated by the audience and band alike - we are all looking forward to next year's concert!

October 2017: Fordingbridge Poppy Concert

Hyde Band Poppy Concert 2017

The band recently gave a concert in Fordingbridge United Reformed Church in support of the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.  The concert featured a wide range of music, including "Let's Face the Music and Dance", "Les Miserables", "Over the Rainbow" and "Wellington March".  This was topped off with an audience singalong of "Forces Favourites" with many wartime favourite tunes. There were also solo features from Pete Jung (Horn), Steve Bird & Fred Faulkner (Euphonium), Steve Gilbert (Bass Trombone) and Jack Grimmett & Martin Easterbrook (cornet and flugel horn).  The playing was very warmly appreciated and we are already planning next year's concert!
