7th August 2010: 'In the Mood' at the Roaring 40s

Ivan Hutchinson at the Gorley Bygone DaysThe 7th August saw the band perform in their annual Roaring 40s concert, which has been a hit year after year and this year was no different. The audience lifted the roof of the Gorley aircraft hangar with their singing, dancing and flag waving and the band provided the music to make it all happen. From the American swing music of Glenn Miller including ‘American Patrol’, ‘String of Pearls’ and ‘In the Mood’ right to the patriotic music of Britain -Jerusalem and ‘Rule Britannia’ – there was something for everyone.

Hyde Band at the Trinity Church Concert 2010On the 24th April the band performed a very successful concert at the Trinity Church in Ringwood. March 2010: The West of England Regional Championships

Tubas at the West of England Regional Finals 2010For the band, this is the biggest competition of the year, with the potential to qualify for the National Finals. This year the band decided to stay in Torquay over the whole weekend, which meant no early starts to catch the coach, and no need to rush back afterwards! With a relaxed rehearsal in a local church hall on the Friday night, followed by a leisurely breakfast on the morning of the contest, we were all in good spirits and ready to perform.

March 2009: Welcome Baby Eloise Marchant

Congratulations to our 1st horn player Natasha Marchant and her husband Dave on the arrival of baby Eloise Danielle Marchant on 9th March. Whilst we are over the moon for you both, we can't help but notice the poor planning as Eloise's birthday clashes with the annual regional championships area contest!
